Project A – Imagine Worlds (Urban Environment)

Project proposal and backstory

What Time Period and City are you choosing for your alley way and why? For my
alley way, I am going to choose Paris circa the 1950s.
What is the backstory to this environment? An important Spanish diplomat/heir of the House of Bourbon has been mysteriously killed in an alleyway and agents from the French External Documentation and Counter-Espionage Service have been sent to manipulate the weather in order to divert the public’s attention from the examination of the ill-fated envoy’s demise.
Where does this environment fit in with the overall section of the game? It fits in well with the overall section of the game.
How did the characters end up in this location and why? The protagonists, who are self-proclaimed citizen investigators, end up in the aforementioned shady side street by sheer curiosity because they assume that the government is politically invested in concocting a conspiracy by covering it up, due to the fact that the diplomat worked for the Francoist Spanish government and the subtle timing between the two events (i.e. the assassination and the subsequent weather manipulation).
Aesthetic: It will be a dark environment during blue hour (a period of twilight).

Sound effects

The difference between non-diegetic and diegetic sounds is that diegetic sounds are sounds derived from a visualised on-screen source and non-diegetic sounds are sounds that are inserted in during post-production.

I would introduce sounds such as wind and creaks to illustrate the atmosphere of an urban alleyway.

Images

Ethical and legal considerations

Copyright: Some images and textures are copyrighted so I would have to get royalty-free alternatives to replace them.

Trademarks: I don’t have permissions to use trademarked brands in a Parisian setting so I would have to change them up a bit while making them familiar.

Confidentiality: It is crucial for people working on my urban environment project to sign agreements because it is morally right and principled to have an agreement to respect their labour rights.

Ethical considerations: Since it has mature political themes, the game would be rated PEGI 16/18 in Europe and M in North America and targeted towards mainly a young adult audience as that demographic has typically more free time. While there will be DLC, there will be no microtransactions as they are very controversial and unfair to people who have earned things without paying.

  1. I do not even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was good. I don’t know who you are but certainly you’re going to a famous blogger if you are not already 😉 Cheers!
